                     in the beginning,
        the light cradled your imagination
        the darkness supported
                       the shadow of your being

        dreams long forgotten
              were remembered as you awoke,
              rekindled, nourished
and passed along as you slept

only the cycle of night and day
                 defines who you are

       your hopes brighter than stars
 your faith deeper
                  than the space it inhabits

                  in the end,
    you live again and again
                   one more time

"My time has not yet come ...
some are born posthumously"
                              Nietzche

This is like a "perfect utterance", Jude. It "just is". The flow is effortless and as if spoken in one crystal stream of consciousness, one inspired intake of awed breath. It has the John's Gospel feel of the birth of The Word, the creative pneuma of the concept of thought and life itself that hovered over the darkness of chaos before worlds began. It's sheer beauty makes me weep. This is possibly my very favourite poem of yours. If I might seek to "add" to the Nietzche quote, ALL are born posthumously and it's to this before-and-after-physical-existance that, to me, this poem alludes. Beautiful tone and voicing; very self-reflexive, soulish and kindred write. This is what you were born to, for and from Amigo. And I'm luvin it. xx

I really like what you've written here Jude.
It's like a exegesis Of GENESIS
Except on a personal level.
You take the reader beyond the 'normal'
Into the 'abnormal'.
You never cease to amaze
Made for a septet (---7 verses/lines --- 7 days---)

There is enough in your first stanza to fire the synapses for a week. A terrific thought. Peace to you ... richard

There is something elegant about this. Someone had in their poem once...I am seldom where I appear. The power and the possibility of where your mind could go......and maybe it decides to leave you home! ~ Morgan

Light that cradles the imagination and forgotten dreams that feed the essence of life, these are striking existential metaphors. The mystery of life's cycles aptly rendered.

Has a Buddhist and atheist feel.

Any thing Nietzche said or thought is utter poppy cock. He totally lost the plot. Spoke about bravery yet was a massive coward and is a pathetic historical character, that is a waste of time even reading his inept quotes.

In some ways our cherished memories of our loved ones bestow a kind of immortality to those who have passed on...
and in some cases, their memories are so near and palpable that it is hard NOT to imagine that they are indeed alive...somewhere.
A wonderfully thought-provoking write, Jude!

I believe this is about an entity that only lives in dreams. All I can say, Jude, is “Sweet dreams.”

Oh Jude, you have written another one of those deep poems...

Nietzche had a fondness for metaphor and irony, just like our Jude.

The circle of life continues, born, reborn, born, reborn...so many times during our lifetime we are born and reborn. When the time comes for our soul to go to the life after life, it does get a signal to be reborn once again...One can continue in this cycle for ever....We can be born after death. Pretty deeply moving and very much inspired poetry!

Much peace, light and love,

Amber

Deeply moving poetry, Jude. The light, the stars, and to me, the most interesting, "the darkness supported / the shadow of your being"

Excellent.
