       the smiles
    are fake

        the praise
    a sham

        the affection,
         a tour de force
    of pretense

    delivered
by spurious dispatch

             words shredded
         through an emotional blender
           rendered unreadable

 transcribed, imagined,
      inglorious disharmony

A powerful write, true in many ways. We see this type of attitude in many of our so called leaders today and it saddens the heart and wounds the soul. The title... perfect! A good read, Jude.

Jude, oh my, this is one of those deep poems once again...Just your title puts one's head in a spin. Shred is a powerful word, most people shred their documents so that no one can ever read them again; shred of evidence brings hope to one, that is in desperate need of that; in your context shred is of a epidemic societal meaning...everyone must be acutely aware of what is going on around them, no one person can be trusted, only yourself can know who to trust and who not to. I always hated shredding my documents, it just seems so final. So much more but on a positive note, your poem gives me a positive vibe because I know that any situation can be turned around into a harmonic one, by believing that there is a shred of hope
I know, I always have to find the positive, but why not?
Thanks for this deeply moving poem to make my mind race.

Peace, light and love,
Amber

Reads like political harmony. Birds of a feather flocking together praising each other until the debate brings out the truth. There is no shred of honesty in politicians. And for that matter, glad-handing money men, lawyers, your slacking brother-in-law, and others who bring little into this world and take whatever they can. Bringing disharmony to all.

simple, incisive... a needle that wounds even as it sutures... too like satire, too like a winding body bandage... too like a visceral slice that operates on the soul... you raze the dead with this one, jude... let's hope they revive with more sincerity than the shred of it that led to their ultimate decomposition.

Oooo... such a little word but such BIG scissors, Jude, tearing in to all that is vacuous. Lack of emotional integrity that's driven from a besetting personal insecurity and lack of self-worth is painful indeed, so desirous of the peddling and receiving of trifling confections. But the kind of toadying that comes from the darker regions of personal agenda and manipulation is spookier still, causing hackles to rise, and it is, perhaps, into this that this "lovebite" bites back?! :)) Trick or treat? Only the psychic umbrella knows and I trust it's good and watertight again over this weekend of mischief and mayhem. Seems you got everyone harmonising on this one, Kartero! Enjoy the pumpkin pie. xx

False words, hollow promises, patronizing remarks each is a special form of lie that just makes the hair on my neck stand up. The most harsh part of it all is that the people who act this way do it because they find no value in themselves, therefore no value in anyone else. They have no self worth and live their lives, not for themselves but in the manner that they believe others expect from them. Sad and pitiful on so many levels.
Take care,
Sherry
