~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                        I’m driving
            driving to an unknown location
      I sense I’ve visited there before
              but for the life of me, I can’t remember
                           when or where,
                   or whom I’m meeting
              the road ahead goes on forever
      like a tide forgetting its purpose
       the line in the middle of the road
          separates me from going astray
                 it helps to keep me focused
                and clear of obstacles
            not to miss the exit to another entrance
              perhaps I’m in-between parallel universes
                                no up or down
                        in or out,
                 just a farsighted sense of direction and purpose
                             just a momentum of moving onward
                             just a perpetual state of driving
                    to the same different place,
                      never to arrive
              the road has no scenery,
                       no landscape, no sense of being
                 just an urge to move on and on
                           and keep on driving
             I know I’m on the right road
                         because I can't remember
                            I'm driving to you
a road with "no sense of being" would rightly be wedged between
parallel universes...
love it, jude; worth several reads.
be well,
it may be a dream state but, it speaks of choice, when we make a choice and feel so strongly about it with no real reason to feel that way but, we do. I say floor it! cool poem.
The destination is foremost and worth the journey. Beautifully executed.
don't forget, Ron ... the poem represents a dream state ... the duplicity and confusion of its journey, where such a state of mind can co-exist ... and it also suggests, the mind can pursue the right road without remembering its direction or to whom its pursuing even though it senses it knows ...
jude, the mental state of dreams is mysterious, deceptive, alarming, loving, peaceful, erotic it encompasses the spectrum of human emotions from abject fear to passionate love - your interpretation is unique just as every individual's is while still being familiar in the main to all of us - I appreciate your personal nocturnal event of, "dream juice! drive" - I wish you peace and love my dear friend - Jon Michael
“I know among the right road.” “Because I can't remember?” Seems opposite of the actual meaning.
Hey Jude,
I love Roger's twilight zone comments...too funny.
Seriously, I just have to say, parallel universes for sure, destination unknown but known, traveling like the speed of light, angel light, mystical, stupendous poetry! I still want to know what you eat or drink before bedtime, I must try it. My dreams are very forgetful these days, I am so tired that I don't remember them very well in the morning. I must train myself to write them down as soon as I awaken.
One more thing, just keep on driving, you will reach that parallel universe you are aching for, and it will be a journey like no other!
Much peace, light and love,
Amber
You are travelling through another dimension and time... and the signpost on the road up ahead reads... "The Twilight Zone"... this poem put me to mind of the opening of Rod Serling's old TV series... good mood, freaky theme... another in a series of shocking vignettes...
"All we are saying is give peace a chance"... join the dance...
Keeping a loose reign on your focal point will enable you to manipulate every segment of your journey so that when you find your destination, it will exceed everything you had ever envisioned up to that point.
Take care,
Yep, catchy last line, Jude. I don't usually think of parallel universes when I have these strange thoughts that I have done this before, or something is so very familiar. I usually muse about reincarnation. As usually you get people to thinking with you poetry. I drink cheap California burgundy, man, and you are welcome to have a drink with me. Anytime.
LOL, have just come from Ron's Road poem and written to Axilea about how "driven" I am! :)) I can so relate: always on the move, as you say, keeping an eye out for all the entrance/exit matrices in life; busy-brained, never stopping for breath - and ALWAYS aware of the proximity of parallel universes. It's like I might step through an unseen door into one at any given moment - in fact, I half expect to as my life is so strange at times. And always has been. I think we "don't remember" anything but the fact that we're going in the right direction and are on the right road because ultimately we know there's a specific place we're headed to - yet frustratingly don't know what. And our sense of transcience is perhaps acute because we just KNOW there's something for us further down that road. I expect many will say the same. But I love how you home in on that weighted one word at the end of this long haul: the "you": not a place, not a reason, but a person (I assume?!) The clarity in that one word is your focus, your ultimate destination and is a heart-stopping finale. The dream quality of this poem is even more hazy and "foggy", if you like, emotionally, yet the distinctness of your imagery with that white line guiding you sharpens the focus and fine-tunes the kaleidoscope effect...
the road ahead goes on forever
like a tide forgetting its purpose
... such a pristine image, Jude. Encapsulates the mood of the entire scenario as you lose yourself in this unrelenting quest. The flow breathes easily and there is such an unselfconscious naturalness to this dream scape that I think it is one of your best. Look out for me whizzing along in the opposite direction on the other carriageway: I'm the one with the map plastered against my face in the wind! :)) xx
