Health is brewed by converging

Chromosomal manipulations with distant spells,

Without resisting either alchemical reaction

When I was born

I was diagnosed with unrestricted synapses,

So that’s why grew up presuming

There’s no real need for connection

Probably why I’m screwed up,

Really doesn’t matter which transmitter works first

Now, I’m standing before this throne

Opening my recent edition of Time,

Captioned “Broken Promise”

Suddenly, the binding staples fall away to the floor

As pages dance from my hands,

The contents dislodging Time’s center

All I see are upside-down words and contorted photos

Scattered around me like paper feathers

In a magazine slaughter-house

It was then I fully acknowledged

I’m just a theoretical dreamer

An abandoned juggler

Trying to hold lucidity together

Like a paroxysmal spider

Touring with Circus Olay,

Guarding an empty web teasing unseen audiences

Ironically, many words, pages and photos

Landed right in the toilet’s whirlpool hug

And as I had dreamed, in the mirror,

I see a staple dangling from my lips

True story, no shit,

I had to refrain from reading myself midair

Because I become so serious, so self-enchanted

It takes me a while for me to stop laughing

Perhaps all this mockery and wretchedness

Is just light-hearted howling

Arriving from various witches and ghouls

Residing in bouts of my mysterious helix

Annoyed with angels who aim to fall on me

And banding with others whom gesture onward

I mean, the world is always on its last legs anyway

Isn’t it?

I think it’s about time to subscribe to a new magazine,

One that’s coherent and hasn’t yet been conceived

We are who we are, Jude. You are a very special man and poet. Yes the world is and has always been, on its last legs. Only the brave sort out their own place in it and aren't afraid to just "Be."

Independent poets like you reserve the goods, Jude. Mediocre amateurs deceive themselves, the journalists and all the other writer types, that they're contenders. The new math of writers live in the impossible heap. The weeder is greatly needed if the garden of muses is to persist as a garden, then poetry and other forms of writing on Miracle Grow is rapidly becoming an overgrown jungle. A little toilet humor, if you will, when great comedian Ron white stands up on stage and talks about sitting on a bidet and how good the water feels up his ass, I mean, as far as I'm concerned, that's the real shit of poetry, and it's good stuff. I could go on at length, but I'll say that a talented guy like Ron White could be inspiration to a whole new breed of poets pushing a Scotch habit, so much more coherent than the weeds pushing book sales of god's kingdom rife with agenda. Yea, Time has become a butt rag along with so many other periodicals nowadays where the ink gets buried in the weeds, "Touring with Circus Olay" with the same old wrinkles where they pin it to pinterest getting their lion's share...RAWR!

Understand the synapses and transmitter problems. This really caught my attention. The entire poem, love it.

"Health is brewed by converging
Chromosomal manipulations with distant spells,

Too bad we can't choose the genetic pools we are born into.

Love that throne's whirlpool hug! Now I'm for certain sure that all my hard work has been keeping you in toilet paper, but it's worth it just to see you smile, Senor. :) So true that we are all a product of our time and circumstance and I have personally been truly alarmed at how calloused my heart has become over recent months, fighting tides of persistent struggle against the way-of-the-world's seeming futility. But today is a new day, sadly a day of mourning for one of our generation's Greats, and I find my tenderness and hope slowly returning to it's fleshy, pink blush by clinging to the example of his shining, humble and gracious soul which shows us how to overcome - one breath at a time. It is fitting that all the 'Giants' of the world will soon pay homage and respect at the place of obscurity from which he came. Such Neo-Nazareths are few and far between and are what Your New Editor will be looking for as witness and testament to the fact that, yes, there must be more than this. No shit. Interesting point, too, about "unrestricted synapses"; from what I learned about developmental psychology in the summer, it is the stimulation of loving communication that also stops them from shrivelling through lack of use and dying away. Not sure self-enchantment is sufficient to halt the loss, but you could give it a go! :) Keep taking the lexicological laxative, Amigo xx

Wading through the ambiguities of thoughts, resting on the aspects of life, confused and stifled to the point that laughter does not burst forth, then and only then, does the thought arrive that Jude is back in town.

Jude,
Where can one begin to comment on this poem? There is so much here for one reading. I have read this a few times and now I am ready to comment.
Without a doubt you should refrain from dreaming when you are on that throne. This poem reads like a trip in your wonderland mind. I have to admit, you really did it this time, so esoteric, with hints of melodrama and such moods in motion, it's hard to pin point just one comment on such a well written journey through your mind.
Ok, then, there you have it...wow this was a trip indeed!

Peace, light and love,
Amber

There is so much to reflect upon in this intriguing sharing. I appreciate your wit, imagery, and meaning. This is certainly worthy (and probably demands) much more than a single reading. Thank you for sharing, Jude. Love and peace,

Regis

It's great to read you again. I was worried until I read this… Much more coherent than many of your other dream scenes. This one was certainly real, like you had come upon a realization and stopped writing to your mythical network for a while. Thanks to some other comments, the idea that time has come undone is quite interesting.

I'm worried that my mythical network is watching every word that I write, and it scares the bigeebies out of me!

I liked "Cirque du Soleil", myself. ;-)

Facinating read. The words jostle and jump about. Looiing for meaning the the way they randomly land on the floor.

I'm intrigued by these words...

Opening my recent edition of Time,
Captioned “Broken Promise”

Which of the many promises we are offered is broken?

Reading this, I felt as though I was spinning, aimlessly, in an endless vortex, with pieces of my life swirling past and away. A few notions sticking to me no matter how hard I tried to dislodge them, holding me, by a thread, to a distorted and surreal reality. There is so much motion in your words that I felt drunk and transformed. Wonderful read, Jude. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Take care,
Sherry

Jude, if it is any consolation, you are among a growing number of like-minded jesters on this road of life. A new magazine? Sounds good to me. what would you call this new magazine. "Mad," has already been taken.
