eternally viable

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
sometimes you want to redirect your existence
wild-eyed
looking for footsteps that remind you of your own
just to awaken
to find yourself back asleep
in the misaligned darkness only you can touch and
see living in designs of articulated blood
and philosophical jargon
and the happiness only distance
can provide pouring out visions of hope
onto the vainness of being
clarifying the fluidity of purpose
I am always trying to remember what I forget
I mean a million lives ago
I was complete
sightseeing through the holy horror of existence
with a consuming desire to dream of life's hidden
beauty and die
flourishing within my own disappearance
to reemerge a collective hum
sometimes I can see the potential for resurrection
fleeing into the intuitive ancestry growing inside my grasp
sometimes I just want to nourish
the light that we all are
without renegotiating
life’s mysterious experience
with everyone
once again
just to say “hello I’m eternally viable –
aren’t you?”
I need to read your poem a few more times before I can answer that question at the end, Jude. You have awakened my thought process. Love and peace,
Very succinct and ethereally expressive this postulation of life and your alignment with it.
"living in designs of articulated blood and philosophical jargon
and the happiness only distance can provide..."
So much so this mirrored reflection. Forever rewriting the severed connections. M.True
I vacillate between believing that there is more past and future to my life than my eyes wish to see and my heart wants to assume responsibility for and that where I am today is all that there is. Are these not the consistent ponderings of mankind? Should we live our lives knowing that our actions, today, will be our eternal responsibilities and that karma will follow us into our future lifetimes or that this may be our only pass and that we must reach for the golden ring no matter the consequences? Will we be eternally viable or like a shooting star, will we leave our mark, briefly, then have our light go out? Profound offering, Jude. Happy New Year!
Take care,
Sherry
I seem to have the same malady these horrific days.
Fascinating write. I like the lines...
"living in designs of articulated blood and philosophical jargon
and the happiness only distance can provide"
You'd make a great Gothic poet if you ever decide to venture in that direction.
By far my favorite is summed up in the ending-
"sometimes I just want to nourish
the light that we all are
without renegotiating life’s mysterious experience
with everyone once again
just to say “hello I’m eternally viable –
aren’t you?”
I don't think there's any way that I am "eternally liable," but it's a nice thought. From your picture, you surely wide-eyed and bushy tailed, that's for sure.
These last 8 lines are such an eloquent yet succinct summary of this poem's gestalt and are ones which our collective consciousness will chime with, setting all our interlocking intuitive and sensory cosmic wheels in motion. One of your recent bests, Kartero, and very worth a recital in order to fully appreciate the flow of your thoughts as they eddy, ripple and steer their course towards (and as part of) that ocean of eternality. The penetration and reverberation of overlapping spheres of 'knowing' is the strangest of experiences that the mutual entanglement of sympathetic, symbiotic souls can share and it is good that we can acknowledge it in the words of your "hello". And, for me, the fascinating thing that such experiences show is that - although you speak of evolving into a 'hum' - on-going existence may be surprisingly concrete. Not road rage, perhaps, in your picture, but the wide-eyed unsurprise of a few 'intuitive ancestors' fleeing or sightseeing with you as they manifest in the very-here-and-now, hitchin a ride on the back seat! :) An excellent Foresean write and one that could be the eponym for your next collection. You're on a roll, Senor. xx
Hey Jude,
Well, where can one begin to comment on this deeply moving and thought provoking poem. I guess your last two lines pretty much turns the whole poem on it's axis...Yes we are eternally viable, after all we keep getting a new chance to reinvent ourselves.
Good one, and your photo is very cool!!!!! You look like you are having road rage though..lol
Have a beautiful day!
Peace, light, and love
I agree, Jude, we do seem to cross with our poetry, and this is a prime example. The eternal battle.
