~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
no time to think of aging
time to wonder of unknown smiles
the unborn have a natural urge to wake up
gently flexing untold dreams
within budding forms,
dreams suspended
in the growing womb of untold moments
sometimes you can hear the unborn speak to you
and warble profound murmurs of existence
and pronounce the essence of being
with a slight kick and swoosh
their tiny heart
nudging you back into reality
reminding you of your aging form
renewed by the light of an unseen voice
an excellent write Jude
the innocent await their turn with the purest of hearts
and a clean slate within their minds to record wisdom
Peace be with you
This is, to me, how a grandparent feels as they watch the baby grow within their own child. The connection is strong and the bond existed before the conception. The coming of new generations does make us reflect upon or own age and perhaps, even our mortality, but more so upon what we have learned and what we have to offer to those who come behind us.
Hi Jude!
I love the metaphor here. I pictured a baby flexing his arm in the first lines of this poem.
Wonderfully intuitive! :D
Beautiful and rhapsodic song to the unborn but fully-formed in spirit. Fabulous description of the essence of being being as 'a slight kick and swoosh' and I love the paradox and seeming contradictions of the first and penultimate lines. No wonder things have been topsy-turvy your end of the wire, Amigo! This little bundle of Joy will turn your heart and life completely upside-down (in the nicest possible way!) Wakey, wakey, Papa! :) Lovely images in this piece and real sense of renewal. xx
A life begins as another finishes. I found giving birth rather painless.
That said. We can learn much from the unspoken, yet spoken wisdom of the unborn voice.
No one knows like the pregnant mother.............I had a dream and "saw" my first born................the same little face it was. Oh, how beautiful!!!
Love ya!
sometimes you can hear the unborn speak to you
And the way things are going these days, they must be ranting and raving about how we've screwed things up for them.
Yes, that time spent in the womb.
We have all traveled such a long journey in life.
Life is indeed precious.
Well done!
This is a beautiful write!! ...from a father-to-be? If so, congratulations Jude!
Yes, it's the most beautiful thing to feel the unborn kick up a storm in the womb. When I was pregnant with my first son, he would often stretch himself inside my womb, and I could see his feet gliding across my belly from one side to the other. Sometimes I would place my hand on my tummy, and he would try to kick up or reach out for where my palm is. Yes, they do know, and they do listen to you too if you talk to them they can hear us too.
