The title isn't all that great, an currently thinking of something else to call it.

Dreams To Reality

In thy arms is where I long to be

Every moment precious that we spend

I treat every day as if there will be no others

Every moment, every breath, every heartbeat

Even the ones that skip!

Yet, I wonder if this is all there is in life

What I have right now, in this very place

The pain I feel, the tears I shed, the silent cries

Am I merely deceiving myself?

Or is this emotion requited?

Smitten I have been, my heart led astray

To some place it has always known

Yet, has rarely seen the light of day

Nestled deep thy have within this dying heart

Lost is this soul as I wander through this existance

Not knowing what is real from dream

Art thou but a dream?

Or art thou flesh and blood

With lips to taste and heat to feel?

I hope beyond hope that thou art not

Merely a phantom image of something

Long lost to the tides of time!

Ashamed of thee, I am not

I long to have the world see us as one

Is pain all there is to life?

If so, then why live!

To hope and dream that these dreams

Will one day become reality, yet

Will these emotions become worn and faded

Like that of an old photograph whose

Edges have frayed with age?

Perhaps …

Maybe, these emotions are like a fine wine

Aged to perfection, growing older becoming better

To lighten one’s mind, make the room sway

This way and that as if on a backwards carousel

One that quickens its pace at chaotic intervals

Is this soul of mine destined to be alone?

To walk forever in the darkness

Never knowing the joys of finding its other half

Or have I?

Once, I thought I had and and then

Found my heart in utter turmoil

Art thou the one?

I hope and pray and dream

That thou art the one!

Or am I just stuck in some fantasy

Where the knight always wins the princess

Childrens faerie tales to warp the mind

Of a young lass who’s soul is destined to die alone

In time there was a spark, so very long ago

A yearning deep within mine soul

To travel home to lands I’ve never known

In this lifetime of sorrow

Yet, in all my heart, in all my soul

I know that there is my home, where my heart beats

Did my love come to find me?

Or does it sit and wait in some dark corner some place?

I know where my heart lies, yet

Have I given too much of myself to thee?

So scared this is unrequited I am!

I long to be alone, yet know the touch of another

An enigma, a paradox

A lone wolf who knows not of pack life

But a life of solitude inside one’s own soul

Swept me off my feet thy have!

Stole away into the night with mine heart thy have!

Art thou a thief or more than just some wolf in sheep’s clothing?

A bandit whom hides in the shadows of mine heart

To whisper poetry in mine ear by candlelight

Sipping wine and making love till sunrise, or till sunset

But, only in dreams

These ears will never know thy voice

This flesh will never know thy touch

These lips will never known thy kiss

In dreams I live, I dwell so sadly

… Or do dreams come true ?

My dreams are so beautiful today. Drams of love shared with someone special will create the reality I seek with her. Dreams can be so marvellous when they are fulfilled. Lovely poem. bill
