I heard a chipmunk
Chirping as he ran across the telephone line
Taunting his brother, “Hey silly goose, catch me if you can.

Big brother was smarter and faster
Went up the big old elm, ran the length of the limb
Jumped on the wire twenty feet off the ground

Here came little brother thinking victory’s in hand
Only to realize big bro smiled at him face to face
Both learned the art detent and tired from the chase

Each one backed safely in retreat… but little brother chirped loudly,
“We’re not through you silly goose, take a breath then catch me if you can.”
