Hands or eyes

Oh…this silly game
from a silly girl
from a silly list of pairs to pick one
or the other
smoke or embers
hands or eyes and oh
do tell why………
I chose embers for the colors’ and warmth
I choose hands….for memories
of the time she reached across……while
heading into the movie theater
Like young lovers out….together
that touch, so long ago
her hand ,into mine
[after all we had been through, still it brings a tear]
or the softness on the underside
of a woman’s breast
Or the things I have yet to
cast a vase on a potters wheel
catch the ball tossed by a grandson
lay my hands on a new pup and feel the chest rise and fall
like my faithful friends in lives past

Granted I may miss many a thing…striking sunsets
ocean waves, rolling, mountains shining
my eyes have seen many things
yet there is much yet to
feel again

Our hearts can see and feel much more than our eyes and/or hands ever will... and our minds remember...

Beautifully written

[spotlight on (and not silly)]... .egads. .
so much evoked in that. ..the comparison of eyes and hands...and all the intangibles. ..hands [and eyes both] can feel their way around a person's soul, more than the shell of any body, though that outward surface can be a steadying point....even a 'touch'point.
and to feel....all those nuances...to feel emotionally spiritually awake alive real. ...in the here and now....not jsut to touch and be touched, but moved....stilled....felt beyond every sense....beyond every thing imaginable. ..
nothng is real that our eyes can perceive; and most of the realness of us is where the hands can never go. ..
what to do?
such a beautiful immediate reality you rendered, so openly too. ..
muches~

Stan,
The rolling of ocean waves, beautiful sunsets and the other beautiful forms of nature you describe all come and go to return, some other day. However, love is a treasure to honor, to cherish, and to never ignore, regardless of the time and place. Whether discussing love for children or love shared between soulmates, such love is life's rarest gift. That form of love provides our lives' greatest memories.

Beautiful writing,
Jill
