Around me like a wall of fire
Traitors all for hire
Adding fuel upon the pyre
Here and there a liar
Wish ill will me for their gain
No conscience them restrain
Their greediness sustain
Leave just hurt and pain
Whispering here and there askew
Cooking poison and such brew
Sinister and a motley crew
Waging what to do
Yet in dying age now wise
Hear their scheming and their lies
Been there once or thrice
Know rotten meats catch flies
Not the first time vultures gather
On smelly flesh and matter
Sustain them selves that larder
Among much fight and natter
The preacher heard their plight with grief
Joined their fray just like a thief
Alley their angst and peeve
Give their souls relief
Found their supper a delight
Picked the flesh till bones were white
To their joy and their delight
Would I say some more be trite
God with us, sing a joyous song
In unison wailing now the throng
God in heaven mighty strong
May the next one live us long!
Well Done Jasmin

It's a stark poem, strong, and unerring.

im a little unclear as to what this is about though.
in context with the title i am taking it that you are unimpressed with perhaps your families responses to someones passing or right before passing.
i worked in a resthome for 4 and a half years.
what made me more angry than you would believe was when i attended funerals of the residents and saw these children and grand children filled with tears and 'we loved our nana' lines and such when i had never seen them visit once! i worked every single shift in the house over the period i worked in that residence and there were so many old ppl who had no one visit them. it was so hard. trying to explain to them that their families hadnt left them to rot and they were still loved but you know... grandchildren and sports and such...
and then to see such a too-doo at the funeral... it made me so angry.
so i guess thats the context to which i come to this piece...
sorry my comment wasnt really of much use.
