Hyping some real goodness, and Hereos instead!

Influences!

Glorify the murderers, and cheating winners

The drug lords and the sinners

Mafiosi and the spinners

The blackest arts alive and well

On movie roles do dwell

It’s all a heavy sell

Only few will ask the question why

Living righteous makes a lie

But make sport if others die

Violence, gangsters, sex, and rape

Nothing wholesome for kids to ape

Throw in the odd guy with a cape

Buried deep within the psyche

With all depraved and modern hype

Influences many, you know the type

And from disks the constant rap

No better subjects try to tap

Fills out the sleazy gap

If you hear and see this constant note

A heavy package around you tote

To keep some decency afloat

Would we package it just right

Some real heroes would take flight

To our kids delight!

Jasmin, once again I must applaud your choice of subject! I have ceased to watch anything but HGTV, Cartoon Network, Discovery Channel, and Sci-Fi Channel. The news upsets me terribly, so I don't watch it. There is nothing on regular tv that is worth watching. Your words are so very true for this time. Wonderful write on a tragic subject.

No longer a "Lone Ranger" or a Roy Rogers do we have. Goodness seems to have become mundane, and bad guys are now heros. Sports superstars getting busted every day. No innocence left. No perversity left unexploited by the media...for a buck. No more pilitically incorrect games like "Cowboys and Indians"...We played "War," but not for real...the world is slowly going to hell in the proverbial handbasket...."Beam me up Scotty," please!

Earth-centric Humanity at the Crossroads by Martin Treon

For the reasons I describe in this book, the world-wide suffering, death and extinction of humanity is very likely to occur, unless nonviolent and democratically determined radical and revolutionary personal and societal actions and changes are taken

The New Debtors' Prison by Paul Lonardo

While Debtors prisons no longer exist, many people continue to be persecuted for crimes related to poverty or inability to repay money owed to municipalities. This practice remains in an injustice that needs to be rectified.
