Crime and punishment.
It is remarkable, and tragically hip,
If one is disposed to be, well sort of,
Prone to an accidental slip,
Lying, cheating, and the like,
You more immune, to high court judgement,
Work on Wall or Bay Street side,
I think the principal here is using fear,
That without you, the world would stop,
And we ourselves, lose all, that’s dear,
It seems to go by numbers if you cheat,
Greedy you are, and top dogs to boot,
Small efforts, with disdain you treat,
If you steal you think, make sure it’s large,
So the ordinary guy on the street, that’s main,
Can’t do the math, while you away with the money march,
A slight of hand with billion dollar pieces,
If you’re good they won’t catch on,
Of hard earned cash, them, the public, fleeces,
You let them win, just for a while,
Even loan them playing money,
And with cars and mansions them beguile,
And then, as if on cue, you want your money due,
Bereft of little wealth they had,
Now not enough, so they could sue,
Lots are greedy, just like you,
Wanted more then they could chew,
That of course you knew,
So now the question is who cheated who,
In this malaise we’re in,
Was it them, or was it you?
Be always safe,
Karen
