Nobody knows the trouble I’ve seen,
Let me tell you,
All is true ,
From day one not wanted, I assume,
Someone slapped me,
And I was just barely born you see,
And to assuage my fears I suppose,
Someone sang this lullaby, this line,
No change in tone or rhyme,
Upset, I would cry for it to stop,
But instead lauder and lauder they would sing,
But to no avail, then beat my ass to sting,
Then she’d force me to ingest,
Yoghurt from the breast,
Sour milk at best,
Soon then I was bottle fed,
And some solid food instead,
But no steak or ham as yet,
Annoying all this was,
My early childhood dream,
There was no happiness it seem,
You can imagine that I would,
Just as soon as fast I could,
Escape this rotten neighbourhood,
But alas, I knew it then,
I had been sentenced to the pen,
Crimes committed I was not ken,
And so it seemed some years,
Another matron now appeared,
A space in kindergarten for me cleared,
Prison privileges now expanded,
But still the warden heavy handed,
I, in a new prison now had landed,
One had to sing and dance and play,
But in what, you had no say,
This now wasted all my day,
On our little brains they worked,
To make us think like them I’m sure,
This and more I did endure,
But while it seems they got my friends,
To me it made no sense,
My mind, they could not cleanse,
Not properly conditioned when,
I landed in another pen,
School they called it then,
To spare you some the pain,
Just to say it was insane,
There, to higher learning they laid claim,
On, I think, the first or second day,
Outlawed any kind of play,
And or anything you’d say,
I’ll give you just a clue,
He, the teacher, me for answers sue,
Such as, what is two plus two?
Had I cared, I might have known,
Or even interest shown,
Instead, I gave a moan,
My answer put him in a rage,
Up he called me to the stage,
And with his twitch, paid me my wage,
One, two, three, four, in his temper said,
Remember this instead,
Sore on my behind, on the stomach laid in bed,
Math became my favourite subject now,
Studied hard with serious brow,
Deep down I knew it was all fear somehow,
Too, my tongue somehow got twisted,
When on reading words insisted,
Somehow read, that weren’t listed,
A habit I developed soon to sooth,
My tongue my lips would smooth,
Such an ailment in my youth,
Late on in public was uncouth,
This nervousness insisted,
When reading things unlisted,
Success they had my mind had twisted,
I could go on and on and tell you more,
But I bet you know the score,
You heard it all before,
One last word though, while I have time,
They, your visit might decline,
Otherwise I’m just fine,
Write to me instead,
Letters still receive,
. Cashmore insane allylum,
P.S. a state facility,
Along the memories golden shore,
You come here, if you’re at life still sore.
P.p.s. they have fixed my tongue now, it is firmly imbedded in my cheek as I write this, but just to show you how one thing can lead to another, bless you all!©
I read this one twice, and I remembered each of your lines in another life, and all that people telling to forgive and forget, that life goes on.
Will them tell that to a fox which needed to bite off its leg from the steel trap to regain its freedom?
God can forgive, some humans can't.
