Ice cold abstract calculations are best used to build cars, rockets, and bridges, or fleece someone out of his last penny( Georg inspired)but when it comes to building bridges of human hearts, compassion and love,,,,,,,,?

Conveniently the human mind,
To abstract thinking is inclined,
Should the heart though interfere,
Much thinking now becomes unclear,

For instance when we need to care,
Some love with others need to share,
Brilliantly it finds a way, a distance,
On relevance insistence,

How near is and dear is he related?
How close, should be debated,
And soon enough you’ll find,
Not need to be too kind,

This mind it thrives on separation,
Unlike the heart it needs persuasion,
Seeing things as all connected,
When it’s soul it is suspected,

The distance of geography,
That easily the mind will see,
But the connection close to home,
To heart and soul, it is a gnome,

Love they neighbour despite yourself,
The mind, it plays that little elf,
It calculates and sees with eyes,
And then to the heart it lies,

You first my friend,
It’s best for you, that’s were it ends,
The heart though knows intrinsically,
Without the you, there is no me,

I wonder if it ever be,
The heart, from the mind, sometimes be free,
Reign supreme and altruistic,
And look at life in ways holistic?©30/03/2010

Very well thought out poem as to the ins and outs of what we are at heart, Jasmin. You have great insight, even paraphrasing Jesus' admonition--Except you come as a child.........Jerry

Jasmin, this is really good! The mind is a sneaky creature. Your first stanza rocks! Patrick

Ahhhh...for the innocent mind of a child: so pure with love, so caring with love, so trusting with love, so giving with love. I don't EVER want to "grow up"!! I'm thinking you don't either, dear Jas...with your memories of Jasmin!

This is a prfect display

Of the games minds play

When the heart can not free

What the soul needs to be.

"Conveniently" - what a great start, Jasmin, because it is just that, a convenience for most of us...people are terrified of their feelings and often too lazy and insensitive to bother or care; this is a very fine and noble way of looking and seeing and above all, feeling. Two thumbs up!

John
