The salesman sped down route 66
There was not a house in sight
He flicked the lights, hit the gas
'Cause the day was fast turning into night
But the car it spluttered to a lifeless halt
So he stepped out and pulled up the hood
Couldn't get a signal on his mobile phone
The situation here just didn't look so good
Then two horse's by a post did appear
One was black and the other was white
They were chomping on grass, and staring hard
Then one spoke, gave him such an awful fright
"Battery terminal's loose," the white horse said
And the man turned as his body shook with fear
He pushed the teminal tight, then sped away
The horse's watched his tail lights dissapear
He drove toward the lights of a distant bar
Ran inside and asked for a whisky neat
"Calm down there son," the barman said
"Why you're shaking from your head to your feet
Then he told the story of the talking horse
As the crowd they stared him up and down
Now he felt like the biggest fool of all time
All these people here would brand him a clown
So the barman sat him in a chair
Said, "friend, i'm gonna put you right
You're not the first, you won't be the last
To break down on that road at night"
"But you're lucky it was the white horse that spoke
Or you'd be there still, under them stars
'Cause you see my friend, the truth is plain
That black horse knows damn all about cars"
