The words overwhelm me
But it’s like a puzzle
What do they mean?
Who am I looking for?
I run in an endless jungle
Tripping over vines
I fall on my face
The underbrush cuts my flesh
Bleeding from countless wounds
I claw my way to my feet
I hear my name
Echoing through the trees
And I begin to run again
Only to repeat the fall
My feet are bruised
The blood flows freely
From my open gashes
He chases me relentlessly
I can’t get away
He won’t leave me alone
“Tracy! Stop!”
I hear the command
But I can’t obey
The fear wells inside of me
I run faster
Jumping over logs
Wading through rivers
I scream in pain
I lost him
He’s somewhere behind me
I steady myself against a tree
My breathing is erratic
I drop to my knees
When he steps in front of me
He grabs my shoulders
Drags me to my feet
My voice has left me
I’m consumed in fear
He removes the cloak from his face
I scream in utter horror
For the person is not a he
But a perfect twin of me
“Why do you run away from yourself?”
I hear my own voice say
“What could you have possibly done,
To cause yourself so much fear?”
The mirror reflection dropped her hands
And backed away from herself
“I am your pain,” she had softly begun
“Embrace me and we will be one.”
