I dream of foreign grains of sand
sifting through my fingers
of dirt so red and so dry my bare feet
become stained with it's dust
I dream of trees that come alive
when the sun peeks through their branches
I dream of a day
when I can look into the horizon for miles,
at the sky mingling with the mountain peaks, and say
"I've loved like that."
I dream of walking naked into the reality of the land
the itchiness, the pain, the discomfort of the earth
and thinking "I love this."
I dream of heavy nights
where the sky presses down on my eyelids
and strange birds sing songs unlike any in my memory
I dream of sitting in the breeze
and hearing sounds I can not identify
and knowing that's what makes them beautiful
I dream of the thick heat of life
The raw heat of truly living and
the the burn of the loving sun scorching
I dream of kneeling down and knowing I am the land
And it is me
Of a house with no walls, just a roof and a floor
I dream of living my life
of realizing my dreams
of going beyond this reality
and creating my own
I dream of setting my own precedents
of making my own standards
of creating my own rythm
I dream of life
Not the life that I know now
but one of truly surviving
and one of real happiness
I dream of carving my future for myself
I dream that this is not a dream
But my reality.

Very nice title. Good use of repetition. My owm poems are shorter, though, and this one could use a bit of "settlement." The idea stayed true to itself, but for a bit oo long. It could stand to be edited by using one word instead of two - stronger ststements.
I like the theme in the title. The crisp images absorb me into the dream and I wake up abruptly with the dramatic change of tone midway. I'm caught off guard. The voice moves from dreamy to active and picks up speed. I like the space before the last lines. A breath to let it all sink in. Very nice.
