SHADOWS

far away, so far, too far, too little too late
too bad it had to end before it had time to begin
and what then, is there left to say to a lover who
will only belong to you in a dreamscape painted
with the crimson of roses and the ivory of lilies?
how can now be now or forever when then still lives
and draws the affections back toward former shores
where once dwelled everything but a memory alone
survives the wailing storms of time and eternity
too sad to contemplate the weakness of finite man
the inability to say to himself, “now i will forget”
and divert his emotions from what was to what is
when he is rendered incapable of touching the truth
of the present through the prison bars of the past
he has become a shadow of the man he once was
what comfort can he offer to warm flesh and blood
when every day the past is in his mind, his heart
and each night he still sleeps with her shadow

You have to move on and leave the past behind. Now is the time to start living. She can still be with you in your heart but you deserve to feel love again! Take care, and god bless you always! Chessly

DJ,
So fondly and lovingly ("ly words") you speak of her. It is with such tender and bittersweet memories you write your heart here on this page. I love you for your intimate rendering of a most perfect love. She is never gone, living within the recesses of your heart and soul. YOU, however, deserve to live, you must try to put these memories safely away, but not forgotten. This pain of loss shapes you as a man and a poet. It is this pain and lost love, that catapults you into being a most prolific poet. You are so talented, and because of this, you must live on...Find another love, that will over come those shadows. Make yourself whole once again, and live your life like your higher power meant for you to live...

I send you healing energy, and lots of love and peace, my dear friend
Amber

Where would such great poetry come from if there were no pain?
So many wonderful lines, Don Juan; notably:

will only belong to you in a dreamscape painted
with the crimson of roses and the ivory of lilies

This is gorgeous xx. I can feel this deep and painfully intimate connection with brokenness so well.
Blessings,
Christine
