A gastronomic delight…

If you ever felt throwing the plate at the smiling waiter asking: “Is everything OK sir/madam?”… whilst you politely smiled back and uttered: “Yes everything is fine”… than this is for you….

Poem Artwork

The tables are neatly laid. The waiter smiles.

There’s ambiance and the menu looks great.

A recommended place; I travelled miles,

With great anticipation I await.

Everyone’s polite; the food must be grand,

It must be a gastronomic delight.

The place is full, must be in big demand…

I’m working up a healthy appetite.

The service is quick; the dishes arrive…

…There is more décor than meat on the plate…

Ten pees, three carrots with a little chive;

Less than my stomach can accommodate.

Only the price presented at the end

Makes up for the deficit in the food,

It’s many times greater than one should spend

On food prepared with such ineptitude.

But being polite I had to present

At least some good backhanded compliments,

Departing I said to the smiling gent:

“Please convey to the chef my condiments.”

Sometimes you curse yourself for being taken for a fool in a restaurant like this. I'm not a big eater, but I like to get what I've paid for; but some restaurants do hire chefs who have attened the culinary art sessions.

My personal preference is that if I want to see art, I will visit the art galleries. If I go to a restaurant, I want food, and I want to eat!

An interesting thought-provoking write, Peter!

I've encountered smiling waiters bearing bad food, too. I like to give the a good swift nip in the tip.

This is wit-wonderful live musical picture.
"A gastronomic delight…" on a poetic tray to be served
in a moment of needed harmony and laughter.
