Now many people have asked me
'Where is the Old Man's loving wife?'
Well, she's still here in the mountains
And she too is bigger than life

She is best known as The Watcher
From the clearing near Profile Lake
Just look yonder to Eagle Cliff
  And you're able to see her face

Near the top of Mount Lafayette
On the side of the highest pan
A profile of The Old Lady
As she is known within her clan

Facing the east with her head bent
She watches folk like me and you
The smallest profile in the notch
Easiest found in the afternoon

Of late she seems a little sad
Welcomes visits by one and all
She's just a little bit lonely
Since The Old Man took his great fall

So if you ever get the chance
Or if you're just driving on by
Take a moment to visit her
This sad Old Lady in the sky
