Poem Artwork

Ahh sweet elixir of life

That shot that gives me

Strength to meet the day

The aroma permeates the house

And I hear the last gurgling of the pot

Ahhhh my cuppa joe

I arise from my bed and

Hurry to the kitchen

A large mug waits by the pot

Sugar, one, two, three spoonfuls

Then to the fridge for the cinnamon crème brulee

Ahhhh my cuppa joe

Then I pour that brown elixir into my cup

And watch it mix with creamer and sugar

A fascinating blending there within my cup

A spoon to hurry the blending

And now it is ready

The first sip from my cup

Ahhhhh my cuppa joe

Some like theirs with chicory mixed

Or kona from the islands

I like my plain old roast

Ground so perfectly

To make that morning jolt

That starts my day

Ahhhh my cuppa joe
