Excuse Me Mr. Basil

Yo!...Hey!  Mr. Basil
you're hoggin' all the sun!
I know you're here for a purpose
and I'm just here for fun
but petunias are squeezing my legs
rosemary's poking me from the back .
Could you jump in with the zinnias
and give me a little slack.

I know she only stuck me here
thinking I'd blend in just fine
a single little Mary Jane
that only she could find.
But soon the weeds will come
and amongst them you will choke
but I'll stay a short time longer
before going up in smoke.

Obviously an avid gardener, I really did love this, it reminded me so much of when my wife talks to the plants she is trying to grow,
thank you for the memory and the poetry,
Steve
