Disintegrating sanity, grains of self are tossed about in desert sandstorm. I throw my hands up, mumble like a madman at mirage of God who’s left me here.
“Prophets are not popular and die alone,” I scream against a cutting wind. “Still you lead me through this desert; still you bid me come, come and follow me to nowhere.”
From parched mouth flow words dripping with mockery. Secretly, I hope to be buried in this never-ending sea of sand. God is silent. A hot sun scorches my wrinkled skin.
I see no point in this desert wandering. What more might I do somewhere other than this cursed land devoid of life? I’ve lost my mind, my heart, my will, too.
Walking in circles, uncertain now if God is walking with me, I cannot see my way out of vast emptiness. I thirst for way it was, how I thought it would be.

I can totally relate to this. Thank you for sharing this offering, Dawn. Love and peace. Regis
Honest, scorching write here, Dawn, and I can really sense the BURN! Searing and intense, but not without hope and ultimate faith that there WILL be a reason, that there will be an end, that there will be an answer and a good ending. Bit like Job, maybe, "Even though He slay me YET will I trust Him!" Sometimes we have to get to that point of recognising that, when God is all we've got, God is all we need - whether or not He makes His presence felt! Just hold on! God sure does move in mysterious ways His wonders to perform - the Bible's full of them! All will one day be revealed, I am sure. Honour the questions and honour the journey. To journey is perhaps better than to arrive, even though it may not feel like it at the time. A very appropriate picture of this feeling of trial and abandonment. Thank you - we can all relate, I am sure. Kate xx
The depth of this poem moves me Dawn. For I can feel the issues here with ease. You put it perfectly in this piece. But even when we feel lost, or abandoned, He is still there...and always will be.

Dawn, a powerful searching poem, touching
on what we all feel at times. Does He really care?
He does, and knows where we are, at all times;-)
I know you know that!

That's exactly where I am at this point. Wandering aimlessly. I’ve lost my mind, my heart, my will, too. Excellent and powerful poem. I often wonder why I am where I am. Alex

Dawn I thought all your descriptions were so cutting, I think you hone on such unversality of feeling, and then that prophet words seemsto settle gently upon everyone, ty al

Incredible feeling in this.
Hope all is well.

Love your poem. I see much forlorn in your verses. This reminded me so much of " Footprints in the Sand "
