This was inspired after listening to a group trying to explain many of life's issues. My question is do we let issues, though very real, define us and give us the excuse we sometimes hold on to to not be all that we can be. I went to the bible in the book of Hebrews and realise that issues must not break or take away from us but build us into people of faith and tenacity. Issues are no excuse for failure - there are many in modern society who are living examples of being better because of life's challenges.

My ancestors’ are at fault
Or… no it’s the white man
Better yet it’s my mother and my father
They’re the cause of my oppression
They’re the one who hindered my destiny...
The fact that my life is my own to live
I just won’t see

After all, if I won’t face that truth
Then I won’t be responsible… be forced To move
Beyond the deception of my mind
That kills my potential to be one of a Different kind
But first I had to conquer the lies of my mind

So here is a truth that my Father showed me
Child your past don’t determine your destiny
Look at Rahab what do you see
A woman moved by faith that changed her destiny
She could my child stay in her past and whine
T’is my lot
That I am a harlot

I am doomed there is no hope
This is just a fact with which I must cope
My parents neglected me
Society despises me
I was born in the wrong place
I am of the wrong race


Never… never my child believe those lies
For in Me, your God, your destiny lies
I am the God of redemption
I delight in reversing the enemy’s plans
Never buy into the evil blame game
It does not bring honor and glory to My Name

Look in my word what do you see
Men and women of destiny who were like thee
Suffering afflictions meant for their destruction
But against all odds overcame and have won
For themselves a name
In faith’s Hall of Fame

By faith they subdued Kingdoms
Worked righteousness… obtained promises
Stopped the mouths of lions… quenched the violence of fire
OUT OF WEAKNESS WERE MADE STRONG
Became valiant in battle… turned to flight the armies of aliens
They were tortured… mocked… scourged
Enslaved… imprisoned… sawn in two… tempted
Slain by sword… destitute… afflicted and tormented
Should I say more?

Yet they were those of whom the world was not worthy
Therefore since you are surrounded
By so great a cloud of witnesses
LAY ASIDE THE BLAME GAME!!!
