Andy’s at Windsor Castle
By Kathy Armijo

Andy left a note saying he’s off to visit
Queen Elizabeth
And have high tea

The occasion of this invite
Is to make him a Knight
To honor his heroic deeds

In private audience with her Majesty
She asks him to retell his story
Leaving out no detail

So, Andy relays stories of his scores
While eating dainty petit fores
While trying to the Queen impress

He shows no restraint
As he recounts his splendorous nights
The Queen doth faint

How can she knight this rogue
Whose tales bespeak of an Irish streak
Yet is an English bloke.

The Parliament quickly convenes
And searches through the Ancient Book of Ed
The solution – off with his head

A shy lass
Does prevail upon the queen
To thwart this beheading

The honoree is supposed to be
Her brother, Andy the Barber
Not her lover, Andy Turner

Interesting poem which makes me wonder what inspired it? Every poem has an emotion behind it that has forced it into existence. I can’t help but wonder about the story behind this one.
