Excerpt from my book "Lemonade Street"

Poem Artwork

String by string
Till you are free again
Free to hum a melody today
Lie on rows of pink rose petals
Find a spider's web beneath your bed

Till you realize it's of your making and no one else's
Let not the wizard hear or else

Hide a jar of sweet jasmines
Scents fitting for the princess you are
Popcorn flies across the room
Indigo lights pour out of the sky
Whistles, soft whistles, the kettle boils over
Tea, butter-biscuits and fresh marshmallows
Listen to 'Mandy' by Barry Manilow

When you choose to be at peace
Catch the star within your heart
Make a place, a space for rest and love yourself more than you love
your breast
It will be, It will be
Like breaking all the spells

(When we choose to love ourselves (not the narcissistic way)
we attract what we become: the best!

Everything you write is so full of love, that it spills over into our eyes, and we see ourselves, our loved ones with more of that spontaneous love of yours.

Truth be told, you're saving me a bit. God bless you. --Charlie

Amen Sistah... we must learn to love ourselves internally first and then the outer beauty will be revealed even more. I enjoyed reading this ...

This makes me weep, Bernice. It captures and releases the child within and sets them on a pedestal in the midst of their own adult world and speaks of redeeming the fracture that so many of us experience in life, resultant from the hard-knocks we can receive along the way. This is particularly moving, perhaps, for those who were never affirmed in the value of their personhood and being as children, and have walked as wounded little ones all their lives. This is a very special write. You have found the cure and bring healing and wholeness through the liberating wonder of your unique words. Bless you, Kate xx

This has such a wonderful moral worthy of children's classics. Yes first we love and respect ourselves, the rest come easy....

Be always safe,

Lot's of poets can delivery this message half-heartedly yet they seem to be stingy with others and themselves (that 'ol Narcissus flower poping up in our garden again) BUT you have decided to open up and bloom and the unusual thing about your poetry is the unusual blooms of images that grow in YOUR garden! I've done the same thing in music but because it is wordless I have no way yet to share it!
I'll drop by once and again....
