There were days
when a man's life
hung upon his every word
not out of fear but out of pride and integrity
Today we live in a world
where commitment means nothing at all
They walk with heads bowed down
and wear their zipper to the side.
(Sometimes I get sick of seeing men who have no back bones, who let their woman control their life and who don't seem to want to change)
Marriage Is An Equalality of Teamwork & Supporting Each Other (supposed to be anyway), is this woman like the wife in the movie Norbert? If So He Needs To Stiffen Up & Hit The Road To Better Days ;) Any Wife Like That Is Frightful (or he can slither out the back door)...oh gee...I'll just sneek him out the window when she is in the shower ;)

Before you didn't sign a paper, you gave your word, and that was enough for honesty and integrity, then, politician came and unworthy paper was needed for millions and millions of Rest Rooms Toilets.

Great write. Integrity involves treating each other with dignity. If both people in a relationship treat each other with respect and integrity there is no need for women's lib nor gutless, nutless MEN. Excellent write. Liz
I believe that integrity is one of the least understood values in this world. Maybe because it is such a lost value... or maybe it is lost because it is so difficult to put a real definition to it...
I think it was Ralph Waldo Emerson that said, "Nothing is at last sacred, but the integrity of one's own mind." It has taken me years to digest those words and really come to a conclusion of what he meant when he said them... but over those years I have also come to realize how perfectly true they are.
Glad I'm not guilty my dear poetess, then again maybe I am, to be honest I love writing verse and it controls me more than anything in this world, my wife doesn't care for my verse, she accuses my laptop of being my girlfriend, hey maybe I should name it Bernice, I know a poetess name Bernice who states, "lest I be a poet," well you get my drift, hugs until the bugs
Some are walking aimlessly in the dark instead of at home helping to raise the next generation of men. Some are doing exactly what they should... Kudos for them.
You make a point, Bernice. But I think maybe you've been
hanging out with the wrong men. Hope you solve the problem soon.

Didn't you hear, Bernice? Men were eliminated decades ago (I forget the date). Women decided they could raise children by themselves and so the the young males had no role models. Granted, not all the men were that great, but a better solution than total elimination could have been found. As a male, I have a parallel question, Where are the women? I believe a few are still left.

I'm from the old school and prefer the times when men were men and women were women. Women's lib has gotten out of control. Equality is one thing but losing our femininity in the eyes of our men is another thing. I don't like it one little bit. You've written a great poem and I applaud you my friend.
