El Paso was friendly buttercups
of gentle welcome
then rolling hills and roadside deer
while shamanic sounds
still rang in my ears
at San Antonio
the atmosphere changed
the sky electric
with arcs and sheets
and forks of lightening
perhaps initiation of greater awakening
perhaps a warning of greater population
I entered Huston already feeling the drain
big city buildings of modern terrain
a guided misturn
wealth became poverty
its agitation clawing the serene
where humanity’s pain and despair
were tucked away unseen
Galvaston refreshed
with warm gulf breeze
seabirds called and
the gentle surf lulled
tranquil again
I floated in the infinity of open water
like a dragonfly my mind hovered
and contemplated physical space and energy fields
mysterious visions of symbols and colors amplified
I became confused to the immensity
I glimpsed within the radius
as the electric storm still tingled in my fingertips
and a local tells me
it is unseasonably warm

Being born and raised in Texas, there was several times in my life where I too thought there just had be a better place. So I packed my life and moved. But then one day I looked real hard in my rearview mirror and found...Texas once again.
Houston, San Antonio, El Paso, Dallas/FW, Austin...I wouldn't live in any of those places if one was to give me the deeds to them. Galveston..is a place to visit on weekends and enjoy it's scenery..There is so much more to this Grand Lone Star State than the places you've chosen. Yes..it's hot in the Summer, and the fire ants and mosquitos are vicious, but give me the tall piney woods of North East Texas any day over the rest of the world. It holds a mystic beauty and a favorable spice that nowhere else can come close to matching. It's the land of shade trees and wild flowers, natural lakes and glowing sunrises and sunsets. It's a golden treasure for the soul to feed from and lean on. I was born here and I'll be laid to rest here...and rest I will do.

DEFINATELY agree with you on Galveston. I love, love, LOVE that place! I am not much fond of Texas, but if I had to live anywhere in this state, it would be Galveston. :)
