there is a soul that reaches out
but his name to me is unknown
i was a witness to his death
for reasons still unknown
a tragic tale just having fun
yet he dived into his death
surfing a crowd just being a guy
he thought they would catch him
but the ocean of people
parted that day
they didn't see him come
i still look back in slow freeze frame
feeling helpless to the sight of it all
i can't explain humanity
or why he had to die
but in its way, it was beautiful
as he leapt from the stage, in perfect form
now he finds he's in a tunnel
confused where he really is
repeating that day, over and over
and why he can't move on
my mind remembers in painful slow motion
although it was years ago
somehow we connected
at the tragic moment
his head crashed into the floor
and i'd like somehow to help him now
to truly find his peace
i close my eyes and enter the tunnel
and find him there inside
he's crying here and very scared
says he doesn't know the way
one step at a time, i breathe with him
and tell him, he is loved
slowly at first and hesitant
he doesn't want to trust
i think of love and pray for angels
to help me calm him down
surrounded then
by many of them
they fill the tunnel with light
his eyes adjust from dark to light
and i feel his sense of joy
they escort him now
from this place
and i know he's going home
and i'll let go
that helpless moment
and also heal myself
debby
*thank you for helping me let that go*

This piece flows really well, Debby. You might want to play with the line arrangement a little more to give it more strength. It has impact as written, but it could be even better. You will find you will rework all your poems eventually. I've just done a rewrite on things I wrote twenty years ago. ~E
