why is there a tarantula walking across my lawn
why did someone, vandalize my car
why did a rat, nibble my sprinkler wires
why was there no room for me
when I went to san diego

why is everything, bristling with irritation
why is there, so much smog this year
why did I misplace my keys, again
why is there a brush fire
so early in the season

why is the raven, dive bombing the hawk
why is the ground squirrel, eating all my plants
why are the weeds, growing with abundance
why do I feel, I just want to scream

maybe I told you I wanted to scream
but this is not what I had in mind
