The decision is already made. This was the hardest thing in my life and its by no means over.

Two men that I love

Only one I can have

I wear the ring of one
and bear the scars of

Childbirth for my son

My husband says he’s too old
Staying with us will only cause him harm

I don’t want to admit it, but this I know.

He’s lazy at times, and can take a lot out of you

But he also helps my ailing husband with

things he can no longer do.

Both men have health problems, I don’t

Think my son could make it on his own.

With diabetes, epilepsy, and ailments

yet unknown.

My love says I coddle and I enable.

Perhaps this is true , but I’m his

mother, what am I supposed to do.

To make it worse, now my husband is

becoming very ill.  He says my son gives him

undue stress, I feel it’s my fault.   My head

is spinning, how did we get in this mess?

My husband says I’m the most important

thing in the world to him, and for me he’d

do anything.  But his body is slowly leaving

him, how much more must he take?

Do I throw my son on the street knowing he

Probably won’t survive, or keep stressing my

Elderly husband out, knowing that if he gets

worse, he may possibly die.

Two men that I love, must I really decide?

In a situation like that, I would let go and let God. It has to be so very hard on you, Mary. My prayers are with you, my friend. God bless.

So sorry to hear about Vince .... what a decision to make. Isn't there another option for your son ... stupid stupid question .. you wouldn't be writing this poem if you thought there were. Maybe sit down with your son ... let him read your poem ... let him know you care abouot him too. Maybe he doesn't know how much stress and the effect of that stress he is making on Vince. You say he helps Vince ... maybe he doesn't realize that you both need more help. Maybe he could change and add more to the household than he is taking out. My prayers are with all of you. Tell him that others are praying from him too. Susan
