Just been to a wedding

everything was so grand

the couple looked great

walking hand in hand

Second time for him

whilst she's on her third

seems to both, the promise

is just another word

Sill they should be happy

at least for a while

though falling at the first hurdle

seems to be their style

If I seem a little harsh

maybe its because I'm green

at least they both persisted

when I gave up the dating scene

I preferred the caring way

to the simpler quick fling

but I can no longer cope

with the pain they bring

This day couples all around

watch the couple's wedded bliss

bringing home a big reminder

of just what I choose to miss

Now I consciously limit myself

to a laugh and maybe a little flirt

totally unprepared to risk

any more emotional hurt

I've only loved the twice

both fabulous from the start

but beyond mere physical pain

when we just had to part

I caused them great hurt too

of that there is little doubt

so to save all from this grief

of relationships I will stay out
