What did Mary feel?
What went through her mind on the Holy night?
She wondered if there could have
been a mistake
How could this be?
that she would have this child?
She was no one special
just a girl
that loved God
and kept His laws
But could this be enough?
Was she really to be His mother?
She was frightened
as she looked around
at the animals
was this to be where
He would be born?
Such a lowly place for a King
No crib
No linen sheets
Nothing but a manger
Could this be?
Pain was intense
and coming faster
But as she looked
at her husband's kind face
she suddenly knew
that this was indeed
the time and place
Then in an instant He was here
wrapped in swaddle
and in her arms
So sweet, so pure.
She looked at His perfect face
And held Him in an embrace
Even the animals were silent
This night
This Holy night
So, here this lowly place
where animals slept
and shepherds watched
as the world received
her KING
