Summer
Heat to warm the bones Leaves to dapple too bright a light Ice cold water to quench a thirst And a cat that purrs in contentment on my lap. Fires that roar through parched and drooping bush Ants that steal the seed from out of furrows Beer that cheers my husband's heart Summer so full of joys and woes.

You brought the season right back on this chilly winter's day, and I love the cat line! I am not a big fan of summer, being allergic to sunlight, but your poem touched on some of the best things of summer and even made me long for those summer days.
