I have almost managed to catch up my backlog of mails and activities, so hopefully by Friday I will have my tracker back on and be reading again.

Early morning sunrise peaks gently
Over flowing hills that lead down
Deep into water-filled valleys
Calling to the fisherman to
Fire his engines and go
Out into the rolling
Foaming waves.
Coughing, spluttering and whirling,
The engine slowly fires to life
Creating a chugging sound
That echoes loudly over
The vast expanse of
Bubbling surf in
Perfect rhythm.
Floating buoys mark rich grounds
Where thirty pound lobsters
Coloured in deep blues,
Yellows, brilliant reds
And subtle oranges
Hide within tiny
Dark crevices.
Wrenching muscles pull long lines
From the ocean floor to topside
To reveal snapping claws and
Whipping antennae, while
The fisherman dances to
Remove the slim catch
Of this sombre day.
Empty netted traps tossed back
Down amidst churning waters
Land with a thud upon the
Rocky bottom to await
The next lobster who
Wanders by and
Cannot resist
The opening.
