Once I saw a dragon
it was so late at night
Its great wings streched out
its scales glittered in the night

Its eyes were crimson fires
blazing from its head
When they turned my way
I feared I would be dead

His eyes of crimson fire
never left mine as he came
and in a voice so deep and calm
he called me by my name

Its scales of many colors
reflected rainbow light
as he settled down
beside me in his flight

He spoke of things long past
of a land so far away
of the unicorn and pegusus
and where his treasure lay

Of heroic knights and damsles
and of old Camelot
Of stories and songs that children sing
that men have long forgot

He then spoke of a time so long ago
when diamonds filled the sky
and I was filled with sorrow
that the time was passing by

For a dragon holds the dreams
of a time and age long past
to remind us of the joys we had
before things began to go to fast

Before he left he shed a tear
as he flew into the night
for the stories left untold
to never see the light

In an age of speed and chaos
while running left and right
stop awhile and remember
your Dragons in the Night
