The Thread

For two years, the thread's been unraveling
I feel abandoned, lonely and unattractive--
not understanding why my needs won’t be
met. Aren't desires between two that love
one other supposed to be expressed?

My subtle hints, encouragement and love don’t
help. I weep often and offer my body to get
attention but was turned down time and time
again. I lie awake at night; back to back
suffering in shame--dangling on this weakened
thread in a deep orifice of misery

Every morsel of life is being extracted from my
already wretched heartache. The blackness
turning to gray is such a burden for me, but my
need to be loved keeps the thoughts of escape at bay.
I wait with a lethargic mind, that one day love will
come again to take claim of my starving heart.

My heart is so alone and walking into the night
when suddenly, hands reach out to help me re-thread
and repair the damage. The hands offer love
as food for my empty heart. It’s nourishing and mending
my scars to a smooth sturdy thread

Now this thread holds my mind together.
It is strong to support the bitter memories.
It is taut and will not break.
It is light for forgiveness and understanding.

Love has healed my lonely heart and ignited it with
gentle embers of passion to a level of heightened
ecstasy.

As a person who loves God more than self, I have always hoped to live to see the day we could put rhetoric aside and realize most of us want the same things. We just have different ideas on how to achieve it. I hope we can have a peaceful place here at the Den for we are all here for the main purpose of writing poetry, and yes expressing ourselves and being read. It would be nice if we stopped the political baloney and put it in another forum on boards or something, and lets get back to enjoying each others poems. this comment will go on everyones post, so please don't feel singled out;-) Thank you, God bless your day, and make it a good one!

I am so saddened by this poem. It is a memoir of my last fifteen years. One day I woke up, my feet hit the floor, I'd realized I'd done everything I could to make it better but was the only one trying. I let thesunshine in and never looked back. Now...I couldn't begin to explain the love and harmony I see all around me all because I gave ME a chance again. This makes me cry but it also gives me a chance to reflect upon my own power. I hope others find the door open for them too. Love, peace and harmony,
Susan
