The Fortune Teller

The Salem Seeress fanned the tarot cards on the table.
Looking mysterious, she tossed back her hair of deep sable.

In a throaty lilting voice, she began her great tale of how a dark stranger would come and change my whole life.
He would sweep me away from all the drudgery and make me his royal wife.

She looked up from under her long, dark eyelashes.
She smiled and fiddled with her skirt’s long satin sashes.

She spoke of images appearing into her beautiful crystal ball…
of how it showed the before mentioned would be happening in the fall.

It was foretold, she said coyly to me.
“What will happen is surely meant to be.”

I waited for more of the ‘oh-so-typical’ foretelling from her.
She peered into her glowing ball and seemed startled, for sure.

She looked up at me with a look of great wonder and surprise.
“I see you with someone with greenish-blue eyes."

"His name will be that of an angel warrior from above.
His heart and yours will fit like a glove.”

“When you meet, you will have been hurt by another.
His love will heal you and from then on you will love no other.”

“Look for him when the winter is almost ready to step aside for the spring.
Be ready for him when you are sure of it never ever happening.”

“Be prepared for great change, be sure of it being as I have said on this day.
Be aware that this kind of love almost never happens, this I can sincerely say.”

"You and he are two halves of a whole, who have loved many lifetimes before.
You will have, in this life cycle, found each other once more."

"Don’t let past lifetime issues bring you to, once again, divide.
Learn from your mistakes, don’t run away and hide."

She looked up from her ball and spoke, smiling genuinely at me,
“ No charge for your visit this time, Hon, this reading is on me.”
