I use it for traveling throughout the night....

Poem Artwork

In the deep, quiet, still of the night

when all you can hear is the whisper of the breeze,

is when my sleeping mind goes traveling.

I fly off to foreign lands where the sun is hot

yet I am not affected and there are palm trees,

that sway in the oasis of the Sahara desert.

My camel sways as I ride pillion on his back

wrapped in gauzy white cloth to protect my skin

from the blowing sand and the wicked wind.

Suddenly I am off again and this time I am on the moon

where there is nothing but the bright stars to take in

and the smell of tangy blue cheese.

Through the night as I dream and dream,

I travel to places I have never seen before

and I am whisked away without a moments notice.

Vivid colors and exotic locations swing in front

of my dreaming eyes and who knows what is next in store

for me as I am, once again, swept away.

...sailing on a Clipper with billowing white sails

that bulge out and then in again at the mercy of the wind

that blows us towards our destination.

Ocean waves crash and spray me as I lean against the side

of the boat and listen to the siren song that lies deep within

me as it has done so since I was a child.

The Moon begins to set and the stars begin to fade away

and I'm startled out of sleep with the buzzzz of the alarm clock

and forced to leave my dream ship moored until another night.

All day a part of me, the part that dreams, thinks of the places

that I've been to that night and how the ship waits at the dock

for me to climb aboard and sail away on it once more.

As I was reading it my daughter came into the room and I read it to her aloud and she laughed and laughed...she said, "Silly mommy and her friends the moon is not made of Blue Cheese, it is Swiss Cheese!" LOL

Very dreamy write, Silver (do I call you that?), full of simply painted, but stunning imagery! A wonderful voyage beyond the cage of the mind...! Excellent!
