The Splendor of Rain (Two Japanese Sijo's)

Heaven’s ballet makes ready
Her recital is drawing near
Dancers gather in darkened clouds
The earth anxiously awaits
Curtains open, thunder applauds
A performance to remember

Crystal streams dance playfully
Tickling the mountainsides
Life flows to the needy basin
Rivers form in natural splendor
Un-harnessed force divides the dell
Nature's perfect renewal
