Inspired by my childhood...

Golden Rays of Rainbow Hay

Those simple times
and simple days…
Those days were filled
with golden rays.

We caught a moonbeam to the sky
and gazed in wonder at the stars,
and wished…
when one of them would fall.

We rode a sunbeam up to heaven
and licked the frosted
whipped cream clouds
that crested in the brilliant sky

then slid back down rainbows of hay
to feed the cows
and water the chickens,
pat the dog and slop the hogs,

then gather the eggs,
and water the farm,
pick the rocks and…
throw out our arms

in welcome to the great wide world
that loved us back
as we sang songs
into the wind

and fed the smiles
upon our lips
that led the songs
back to our hearts…

Those simple times
and simple days…
Those days were filled

with golden rays!

... from one "farm girl" to another, indeed they were... The hayfields and all associated with haybarns are my abiding delight and memory... except for the rats nibbling your toes when your little leg slips accidentally between stacked bales! Eek! :)) Kate xx

So refreshing. Cheerful, full of hope. Seemingly so lacking in todays life. Beautiful, serene, active, forward motion. Liz

Cryssa C, it is me or that color is fading from my eyes, but like reading a lullaby?

This is exactly what I remember. Yellow/golden days with a lot of work -happily done together. Sliding down rainbows of hay(don't tell Dad)

It sounds so beautiful and soothing. Images of happiness, in my opinion.
The color is lovely, but a little hard for my eyes. Or is it my screen?

Sure sounds good to me but that color yellow I found hard to read but does not distract from your wonderful poem.
