In a nostalgic mood...

Dreams of Places Past

She dreams of places in her past

and friends from far away.

The visions of those distant lands

bring longing to her soul.

The sights, the sounds, the breaths of air…

The memories all unfold

and wrap around her longing mind

with tantalizing flair.

But bittersweet those memories are,

and gone are many friends…

so she accedes that sometimes things

are better left unshared.

But in her mind and in her heart

she often visits there--

the memories of her old-time friends

and dreams of places past…

This is a beautiful, and somehow soothing poem, Cryssa. Sometimes I sleep in dreams of the past, and awaken to a brief moment of confusion as to where I really am. Other times I long for a person or place of the past. My only danger is that in knowing the past so well, I will risk the joy of experiencing the future. Well done...............Jerry

It seems that often, the past seems much sweeter than it was when it was the present. Thank you, Cryssa. Love and best wishes,

Cryssa, I love the content, and the flow of this lovely poem. Often, the past is where those special memories are tucked away...and in our fast paced lives....sometimes...we just have to slip back into that space that brings sweet and dear snapshots to our life. hugs, lindalaw

This is especially poignant read in the knowledge of the histories of the precious ones in your keep and with whom you share your family life, Cryssa. We are all products of our heritage and the seeds sown into our present lives from those memories and persons of the past make us into the rich and varied tapestries we are today - and still a work in progress! Perhaps who we FEEL ourselves to be is the most important and each of us will relate this lovely poem to our own experiences of being in touch with our roots. Thank you, too, for your inspiring thoughts on my latest post - I love to hear how people react and respond to what is written! :)) Bless you xx

Reminds me of my high school friends and our group picnics, with Beatles' albums and our guitars. Very nostalgic, indeed, thanks Cryssa.
