WAY BACK THEN
Being young seemed so tough when I was small,
Worrying so, when I couldn't find my favorite doll.
Fighting with my brother over the silliest thing,
Racing to the phone every time it would ring.
That special dance, not knowing what to wear,
Trying to remember everyone in that nightly prayer.
Studying hard for the tests in school,
Plus trying to remember the Golden Rule.
Gee, it seemed so hard, way back then.
With school, playing, remembering rules
And trying to please that special friend.
But looking back, I can hardly believe,
How easy life was, and how I was deceived.
'Cause now that I'm grown, I know what worries are,
Reaching for goals as high as the stars.
Trying to pay bills, when the money isn't there.
Sure gives you a shock and a lot of grey hair.
Being responsible for children's lives,
Can't be compared to a doll babies cries.
Left alone while my husbands hunting and fishing,
Makes me look back and I can't help wishing.
That I'd never have grown past the age of ten,
And I wish I could return to way back then!
