TAKE 7 CARDS DALE
T'was the last winter when all of us learned,
To play a new card game that made poor Dale burn.
The rules were all given and the cards flew around,
It was unusual but Dale made no sound.
There were no questions asked and no answers spoken,
Poor Dale looked confused and thought we were joken.
He never was quiet or meek as a lamb,
But look at him now; he closed up like a clam.
My partner laid Dale a three and five cards he had taken,
When Dale said that's wrong, two more we were shaken.
Take seven cards Dale, 'cause you made a mistake.
I thought he would cry 'cause he started to shake.
The game progressed with ample speed.
Dale thought he caught on to take the lead.
He held every card in his tight little fist.
We knew he was losing but couldn't resist.
Take two cards Dale for missing your turn.
He took those two cards and had lots to learn.
He spoke not a word but proceeded to play.
Drew five more cards, 'cause it took him all day.
When will this dumb little game ever end?
Was the unspoken request to his so called friend.
Let's call it quits and end for the night.
But Dale made a mistake, so that wouldn't be right.
Take seven cards Dale before it can end.
And I just had a feeling, I lost a dear friend.
He drew in the cards but threw up the whole deck.
That's when we knew his nerves were a wreck.
Poor Dale we all said and laughed deep inside.
His wife tried not to laugh, 'cause she needed a ride.
Dale looked at us closely, then turned to the right.
Stood up abruptly, saying "and to all a goodnight!"
