I'll Carry That With Pride

Getting used to the person that looks back at you everyday in the mirror is getting easier to understand.

Poem Artwork

I’ll Carry That With Pride!

I see my Mother standing there when I peak in the mirror on the wall.
Where did that young girl go, is there anything left of her at all?
Look at those tired eyes, white hair and wrinkles on her face.
Did she disappear completely, is she totally replaced?

This face is looking back at me to see if I recognize,
Anything about her. in her hair, face or eyes.
Mom’s standing looking back, is the only thing I see,
It’s nice to see my Mom again but what has become of  me?

Is this what happens when we get old and completely worn.
We lose all track of us and the child that was born.
But if this is what I’m left with, I’ll be satisfied,
Because I look like Mom now, and I’ll carry that with pride.

Oh, Bonnie, how true this poem is. I see my mother when I look in the mirror also. What did happen to us? If you know, please tell me.

'Tho the wrinkles remind me of my age, I'm grateful the natural red-hair I was born with shines as a reminder of a youth wanting to prevail! :o)
Know your Mom is looking down and enjoying this delightful poem!

It's weird, but I kind of feel that no matter how many trips we take around that big ball of fire, there is something within that remains for ever young.
