My first dog was a true joy but she was only perfect to me!

Little Toots

We had a tiny little dog as black as black could be.
She had a unique name and personality.
Her name was Tootsie and she was very smart indeed.
She knew so many tricks which kids would come to see.

I’d put a bone on Tootsie’s noise and leave it there awhile.
She never moved to eat it, until I’d nod and smile.
Shaking hands was easy, she did it with either paw.
But Tootsie was far from perfect, she had a few flaws.

Tootsie hated the word tickle, she’d growl and have a fit.
She’d bark and snap and snarl at you until you finally quit.
I’d lay a treat on the floor and say, “Tootsie don’t touch.”
She’d just lay and stare at it, yet loving them so much

Mom tried to pick it up and Tootsie would bark and growl.
Scared the daylights out of Mom, thinking she’d gone wild.
But the biggest flaw that Tootsie had, was leaving little toots.
She would toot and depart, leaving us turning up our snoots.

Mom’s prissy friend Peg, came to visit her one day.
Tootsie gave a toot by Peg and left, Peg didn’t know what to say.
Her own face was red even though she knew Tootsie did the act.
Prissy Peg got on her high horse and said we should get a cat.

hee, hee, hee....
Oh, how funny!

My great grandma had a little Daschound (I am sure I slaughtered that spelling...sorry!) named Tootsie. Grandma always gave us Tootsie Rolls when we went to visit her...

VERY, VERY FUNNY! Now tell me, could this prissy Peg be the same Peggy who fell off the roof? Cause I was thinking....Maybe Tootsie was on the same roof and left out a toot, and Peg panicked and that's how she fell. Just kidding, Bon, I know the roof wasn't a literal one, but I couldn't keep this idea from popping up.

Love ya, Connie

That little dog would have a ball in my house with three boys and a girl to look after, we didn't like the mean cat of my mother.
