The Day I Met Sally
The day I met Sally was one of the best I ever had.
She was so hilarious I could never picture her sad.
What a sense of humor I saw in this person I just met.
I knew I could pull a prank on her and she wouldn’t get upset.
Mom invited her to tea one day to meet my new pal Sal.
I knew my Mother would love her, ‘cause she was quite a gal.
My Mom loved to laugh and she had a sense of humor too.
So they would love each other, I knew this was true .
I told them both the other was deaf, and very embarrassed to be.
I told them they had to speak very loud while they were having tea.
It was so hard keeping a straight face with all the yelling going on.
But I managed quite well, while still having fun.
All their blaring and yelling went on like that all afternoon.
We were still having fun but Sal had to leave soon.
I kept expecting them to find out the truth, but they never did.
In a quiet voice, I told them the truth, their expressions couldn't be hid.
Mom laughed so hard until the tears came, she could hardly see.
However, Sally sent cloak and dagger looks directly at me.
But then Sal gave a giggle along came two and three,
Eventually she was laughing too, no longer mad at me.
