I’m Not Crazy!

I’m not crazy, I really heard pots and pans banging late at night.

We were in our camper in the mountains at our camping site.
Every night when we went to bed, I heard clinking going on.
But the time I woke my husband up, the clinking sound was gone.

He thought I was losing it and gave everyone laughs at my expense.
So when it came time for me to go to bed, I got extremely tense.
Every night it was the same, I heard my husband snore.
Then the clinking & clanking started shaking the blasted floor.

I’d screamed wake up you fool, there’s something under the sink,
By the time he’d finally awake, there was not a single clink.
It was as though a ghost came late at night to just agitate me
He never bothered another soul, who could this ghost be?

Then one night he came early, my husband wasn’t quite asleep.
He sat up and listened, and decided to take a peek.
He put a light around his head, grabbed his trusted revolver.
He sat on the end of my bed, he was a true problem solver.

It was hard to keep a straight face as he sat at the end of my bed.
He was sitting in his underwear, a gun & a light coming out of his head.

He said, “When I tell you, open the door real quick.”
My hands were shaking, my knees were weak and I was feeling sick.
“OPEN THE DOOR,” he yelled to me, I did as I was told.
He scared the little guy so bad, he dropped my jelly mold.

The light upon my husbands head frightened a Kangaroo rat.
His little arms were up in the air, and that was where it sat.
He was the cutest thing with little round ears and pushed in snoot.
The big white hunter couldn’t kill him, for he was such a hoot.

“I’ll set a trap tomorrow,” was all my husband would say.
“I’ll catch that little rat tomorrow for it’s another day.”
I didn’t want to see him die, it would break my heart.
I was surely hoping the Kangaroo rat would this night depart.

I was just glad I wasn’t crazy and now everyone else would see.
That it was a little Kangaroo rat that was agitating me.

My car always makes funny noises when my husband isn't around...
It shouldn't give me such great satisfaction when the car breaks down on him... hee, hee...

Once, when camping with a group of friends we hear screams and a commotion from the girls tent which ran out the nearest you can get of being naked to the amusement of the big hunters expecting a bear or...something.
We never thank so much to a mischievous racoon as we did that one, what a unforgetable view of nocturnal nature in the mountains and...

Jim shouldn't complain - you're making memories that will be passed on to your children, your grandchildren, a legacy of laughter and love - nothing wrong with that!! Well done, Bonnie, glad you survived your encounter with the Kangaroo rat. What a cutie!! Could have been worse, could have been a skunk. Or bear ...... LOL

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
