Four Marbles, Two Bee Bees!

My husband was so careful with guns being locked up. He kept a bee bee gun in the corner of his closet hidden. If you think there's any place you can hide a gun from your child, think again. Their adverturous minds can find more places than you can.

Four Marbles, Two Bee Bees!

On a very busy day, a policeman came to my door.
He was nice and polite, I’ve seen him once before.
“Do you recognize these?” and opened up his hand.
I Saw 4 marbles and 2 bee bees in the hand of this man.

“Gee, the marbles look familiar,” I said very confused.
“I’ve never seen those bee bees before?” I said a little amused.
“Your neighbor behind you found them in her sun tea jar.”
“These little gems, were the only ones she found so far.”

“Oh my goodness,”
I knew who the two culprits were, I knew right away.
“I’ll get the culprits for you,” what else could I say?
“Boys, I want to see you this very minute down here.”
“And bring that bee bee gun that I know is right near.”

Down both came with their little heads hung low.
With little red faces and their gun in tow.
“Do you two know anything about what this officer holds?”
They examined them thoroughly, before the little one told.

“Yes, sir,” he said, “we were shooting at the jar.”
“It was a perfect shot and it was really far.”
“We ran out of bullets so we used our arms,”
“To throw the marbles, we meant no harm.”

They knew they broke the rule regarding the gun,
But it was overpowered by their drive to have some fun.
My brand new sun tea jar, which I long waited for,
Went with two little boys out our back door.

They made their apologies for the damage done.
The neighbor was quite nice, she too had a son.
They sheepishly returned and went right up the stairs.
When we got near their door, they were saying their prayers.

Boys will be boys...I had a crossbow that I used on the beach, just a kids toy, but damage it could do...I recall a certain police cars rear tire one day...but that is another story...Ed

Is this what they call "the joy of motherhood"? Sounds like those boys had a twinkle of spunk hidden away that only showed itself when no one was looking, great write...

Be always safe,
Karen

Precious and beautifully written. A winner. You're right about those hiding places! Don't we all have experience?

Ah, a great write my friend....sends a loud and clear wise message. You are right, nothing can be hidden from children except behind locks. I can remember finding things that my mother was sure she had hidden from my sister, myself and my brother...little did she know, and still does not know the things we found! Kids have a natural curiosity. Too many unecessary accidents and tragedies have happened because of curious minds and fingers, and simply put from innocent children. A great write sending a powerful and wise message!
Blessings,
Joyce B.

Good message in this one, Bonnie; it could have very easily ended in tragedy! Too many kids have been killed by guns left within reach; tragic!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :(

Hey! hey! hey! I had a BB gun too, but think again if I was to shot at anything of my mother's. That little boys of yours sure got the lesson seeing the "Law" at your door.
