This is a story that my father told my children, a story from his youth.

All He Wanted was Chicken Pot Pie

Little Donald was such a precious child who loved chicken pot pie.
He lived on a farm with his daddy and mommy and was the apple of their eye.
He was only three years old but very bright and full of vigor and sap.
His favorite thing in the whole wide world was sitting on his Mommy’s lap.

But running a close second was a homemade chicken pot pie on a plate.
So one morning he asked him Mommy if she could make some before it got too late.
She said, “Donald you’d have to go and kill some chickens for the fridge is empty.
Knowing he would never do it and she was as busy as she could be.

Little Donald went outside and looked at the chicken coop behind the barn.
He got some rocks and a big stick, all that he could carry in his little arms.
He got on top of the chicken coop and dropped the rocks on the little chicken’s heads.
When the mommy chicken came out to help, he whacked her instead.

One by one the little chicken’s met their fate and dropped like tiny flies.
He gathered them all up proudly for his favorite meal was chicken pot pies.
He put them in a bag he found and marched them to his Mom.
She was horrified by what she saw and took her days to get calm.

Needless to say, Donald was punished & couldn’t sit down for a week.
All he wanted was chicken pot pie, but now his chances were bleak.

What a cute story, altho quite sad for the little lad!!! His mom should have been taken to the barn and given a good talking to...anyway... I saw many a chicken killed when I was growing up as a child on a large ranch, and there is no way I could ever have killed one.... you are a wealth of stories my girl... :-)) lindalaw

I would have given mommy a "What For" but that probably would have made her more angry.

I don't know, kind of felt sorry for the little guy, he was only doing what his mother told him, maybe she was the one who should have got punished for lying and giving a child false information. lol

Bonnie, this is a really cute story. Donald certainly had determination and ingenuity. He must have been a handful!
Your picture is just right, too--you sure know how to pick 'em.
